I found a message on the microsound list. A girl in Barcelona having difficulties with a spanish keyboard, asked for indications: the shortest way to a club. One response came, which wasn’t really an answer, but a cryptic message. Her reaction was a short fairy tale:

Once upon a time
people who where listening to experimental,

audio acoustic, avant garde and
now defined sound art,

were interested in all the fields electronica was expressing itself
for what regards me i don-t listen to techno or house anymore,

and i go on
reviewing experimental
electronica.

at the same time i like to dance

and I KNOW it-s not easy for
friends to listen to microsound music.

 i
tried many time to put together socialisation and microsound and it-s not
working that much. i like clubbing every
once in a while,

because i think it-s important to have fun

Maybe you think this is equally a cryptic introduction to an evening of sound art on the 9th. of May. Read the information on Laura’s,Paula’s and Juraj’s website and you notice you are dealing with young composers who want to create sounds out of nothing, and send them out to open ears.

Listen to their sounds and you will hear how concise and at the same time fragile their compositions will come to you.

One can be sure of an evening of attentive listening.

But then go to Laura’s myspace. Aren’t those songs one can use to redecorate a bar in Berlin Mitte, songs that make your latte macchiato look like a brasilian cocktail, instead of a bavarian mocca beer? Aren’t these songs that make hard core experimentalists go ‘pooh-pooh.’

Maybe.

But this short clip of hers, just a step aside form the ‘haha look how funny we journalists can be” blooper, isn’t it just a fine piece of sound?
